Brunson Challenges Logisticians to Bring Modern Technology into Exercises at 10th UNC Logistics Symposium
CAMP HUMPHREYS, South Korea — U.S. Army Gen. Xavier T. Brunson, commander of United Nations Command, told logisticians from 15 nations that sustainment is central to winning as he opened the 10th annual UNC Logistics Symposium at the Morning Calm Conference Center on Oct. 26, 2026.
“Sustainment is not support to the fight,” Brunson said. “It is what enables us to fight and win.”
Brunson challenged participants to deliver practical solutions and bring modern technology into multinational exercises. He tied that challenge to deterrence, saying, “Endurance in theater is how we deter.”
The symposium, which runs Oct. 26-29, brings together senior military logisticians, operational planners and defense officials from UNC Member States and the Republic of Korea. This year’s theme is “The Deterrent Power of Integrated Logistics.”
The forum is intended to strengthen multinational coordination, improve sustainment efficiency and enhance theater situational awareness in support of South Korea’s defense.
Discussions also turned to operational innovation, with working groups examining ways to optimize prepositioned stocks and apply lessons learned from contemporary logistics coordination cells in other regions.
The symposium emphasizes that deterrence depends not only on frontline combat power, but also on the demonstrated ability to sustain forces over time and distance through agreements, prepositioned stocks and transportation networks among partner nations.
The forum is held in coordination with the Republic of Korea Ministry of National Defense and the Republic of Korea Joint Chiefs of Staff. It supports readiness and stability on the Korean Peninsula in keeping with the Armistice Agreement.
United Nations Command is the multinational military force that has helped preserve the Armistice on the Korean Peninsula since 1953.
