S. Korea's Leader Approval Rating Surges to 76.2 Percent
(MENAFN) South Korean President Lee Jae-myung’s public support climbed to 76.2 percent last week, marking a 1.5 percentage point increase, according to a weekly poll released Monday.
The share of respondents disapproving of Lee's leadership dropped by 0.8 percentage points, reaching 21.9 percent. These figures were gathered through computer-assisted telephone interviews (CATI) conducted by local polling agency Flower Research.
Backing for the ruling liberal Democratic Party also saw a rise, gaining 1.1 percentage points to hit 58.9 percent. In contrast, support for the main conservative opposition, the People Power Party, dipped 1.2 percentage points, settling at 19.5 percent.
Smaller parties also registered on the poll: the minor progressive Rebuilding Korea Party earned 4.1 percent support, while the right-leaning New Reform Party recorded 2.4 percent.
In a separate poll using an automated response system (ARS), Flower Research found Lee’s approval rating rose by 1.4 percentage points to 69.7 percent from the previous week.
The CATI and ARS surveys each polled just over 1,000 voters between Friday and Saturday—1,007 and 1,008 participants respectively. Both polls carry a margin of error of ±3.1 percentage points at a 95 percent confidence level.
