South Korea's Leader Public Support Climbs to 71.1 Percent

(MENAFN) South Korean President Lee Jae Myung's approval rating climbed 2.1 percentage points week-over-week to reach 71.1 percent, fresh polling data released Monday showed.

Disapproval of Lee's executive performance fell 1.9 percentage points to 27.9 percent, according to computer assisted telephone interviewing (CATI) conducted by local pollster Flower Research.

The governing liberal Democratic Party saw its support rise 1.6 percentage points to 56.2 percent, while the conservative opposition People Power Party experienced a 4.5 percentage point drop to 24.5 percent.

Both the minor left-leaning Rebuilding Korea Party and the minor rightist New Reform Party registered 2.8 percent support during the week.

A separate automated response system (ARS) survey by the same pollster indicated Lee's approval rating dipped 0.2 percentage points to 61.9 percent compared to the prior week.

The CATI and ARS methodologies polled 1,002 and 1,007 voters respectively between Friday and Saturday. Both surveys carried a margin of error of plus or minus 3.1 percentage points at a 95 percent confidence level.
